Reset a password

Forgot your password, or just want to change it? Here's how to reset it from the sign-in screen, update it while you're logged in, and sign out of a device you no longer use.

Updated Jul 9, 2026

There are two ways to change your password, depending on whether you can currently sign in. If you're locked out, reset it from the sign-in screen. If you're already signed in and just want a fresh one, change it in Settings. Both take a minute, and your password is yours alone — no one at your practice, and no one at Valian, can see it.

Tip

Use a password manager and let it generate a long, random password you never have to remember. Paired with two-factor auth, it's the strongest, lowest-effort way to keep your account safe.

Reset a forgotten password

Use this when you can't get in.

  1. Go to the sign-in screen at app.valiansystems.com and select Forgot password? below the password field.
  2. Enter your work email — the address you use to sign in — and submit.
  3. Open the reset email. We send a secure link to that address. Check spam if it hasn't arrived in a minute or two.
  4. Choose a new password on the page the link opens. Pick something strong you don't use anywhere else.
  5. Sign in with your email and new password. If you have two-factor auth on, you'll confirm your code as usual.

The reset link is single-use and expires after a short window, so open it soon. If it's expired by the time you click, just request a new one.

Change your password while signed in

Use this for a routine change — say, after a staff transition or on a regular schedule.

  1. Open Settings → Password & sessions.
  2. Select Change password.
  3. Enter your current password, then your new one twice.
  4. Save. You stay signed in on this device; other devices may be asked to sign in again with the new password.

Sign out a device you no longer use

Your Settings → Password & sessions page also lists the devices where you're currently signed in — your office computer, your phone, a laptop at home — with the location and last-active time for each. If you see something you don't recognize, or you left yourself signed in on a shared machine, sign that session out from the list. The device is signed out right away and has to log in again.

Note

Changing your password is the fastest way to lock out anyone who might have it. If you suspect your password leaked, change it, sign out other devices, and confirm your two-factor auth is on.

If you sign in with Google

If your team signs in with a Google account instead of a password, there's no Valian password to reset — your sign-in is handled by Google. Change or recover it through your Google account settings, and Valian will let you in as usual.

If you're still locked out

Try these first:

  1. Confirm the email address. Reset links go to the exact address on your login. Typos are the most common snag.
  2. Check spam and filters, and search your inbox for the reset message.
  3. Ask an Owner or Admin. They can't see or set your password, but they can confirm your account is active, resend an invite if your account was never fully set up, or remove and re-add your login so you get a fresh set-up email.

Still stuck — especially if you're the only Owner? Submit a ticket from the Help Center or email help@valiansystems.com. We'll verify your identity and get you back in. If the phones or booking are affected, mark the ticket Urgent so on-call picks it up around the clock.

Frequently asked questions

Can an Admin reset my password for me? No — no one can see or set your password. An Admin can remove and re-add your login, which triggers a fresh set-up email so you can choose a new password yourself.

Will resetting my password sign me out everywhere? It can. Other devices may be asked to sign in again with the new password, which is exactly what you want if you're resetting because a password leaked.

How long is the reset link good for? It's single-use and expires after a short window. If it's expired, request a new one from the Forgot password? link.

I never got the reset email. Check spam, confirm the email address is right, and wait a couple of minutes. If it's still missing, your account may not be fully set up yet — ask an Owner or Admin to resend your invite.

Does changing my password affect my two-factor auth? No. Your 2FA methods and backup codes stay in place. Password and two-factor are separate layers, and both keep working after a reset.
